Outbound Picking (SEKO 360)


Picking

Picking is the physical and systematic action of retrieving material from the physical location and WMS.

Step 1: Monitor Order List

A SEKO customer service representative will monitor the WMS order list throughout the business hours. Orders dropped before 1:00PMLT will be shipped the same day. Orders dropped on or after 1:00PM LT will be shipped the next day.

  • A SEKO customer service representative will release the wave of sales order for picking and will provide a pick ticket to the warehouse operator.

Step 2: Pick as Directed

A warehouse operator will pick all pick task assigned to a wave.

  • Depending on the client, the warehouse operator may prepare a pick cart for picking multiple orders at the same time.

  • The warehouse operator will pick the order(s) as instructed by the WMS.

  • The warehouse operator will try to resolve any unforeseen issues that occur during the picking process. If the issue is unresolved reference the client SOP for fulfillment instructions.

Step 3: Close Wave

The warehouse operator will complete/close the wave.

Step 4: Quality Check / Packing

The warehouse operator proceeds to the quality check/packing area and packs all sales orders assigned.

  • At the pack station, the warehouse operator scans the pick ticket and then scan verifies each item against the pick ticket.

  • Based on the client packing requirements, the warehouse operator selects the appropriate packaging and proceeds the pack the shipment.

  • Based on the client SOP additional content such as marketing cards, gift receipts, gift messages may be added to the carton.

  • The warehouse operator notes the carton size(s) used in the WMS

Step 5: Request Booking

The warehouse operator will proceed to request a booking with the appropriate carrier.

  • If the booking is confirmed the warehouse operator will print and affix the shipping label.

  • Based on the client SOP, additional documents or labels may be required.

  • If the booking is not confirmed, the warehouse operator will have to manually book the shipment. See the client SOP for more instructions.

Step 6: Transfer to Outbound Staging Area

The warehouse operator will transfer the packed cartons to the designated shipping area for that carrier.

Step 7: Update AdHoc Charges

The warehouse operator will capture any billable AdHoc activities performed during picking/packing and update the WMS.
