Location Setup
The following workflow must be followed when initially setting up slotting rules and locations for a fulfillment center.
For general maintenance on a specific location, reference our Location Maintenance work instruction.
Slotting Categories
The following is a list of standard slotting categories: Apparel, Hazardous, High Value, etc. Slotting categories are used to group and identify products for what they are.
Products and location profiles must have a slotting category assigned. If a product does not have a slotting category assigned, the product received will not be slot to a location. If a location profile does not have a slotting category assigned, product received will not be slotted to any locations under the location profile.
e.g. A SEKO client that sells clothing. The location profile would have the ‘Apparel' slotting category assigned. The WMS now understands that the location profile can store apparel products. The client products would also have the 'Apparel' slotting category assigned. The WMS now understands that the products need to be stored in a location profile that stores apparel.
Location Types
The following is a list of standard location types: Case, Pallet, Prime. Location Types are used to identify what UOM is being stored in a location profile.

Location Profile
The following is a list of standard location profiles: OS&D, Security Cage, Prime, Bulk, Special Handling. Location profiles are used to group locations. This can separate product by category or client depending on how this is setup.
e.g Locations SC-AA-01, SC-AA-02, SC-AA-03, SC-AA-04, SC-AA-05 grouped under the ‘Security Cage’ location profile.
A slotting category, location type and location group must be assigned to a location profile. If a slotting category is not assigned, the product received will not be stored into any locations under the location profile. The location type is a required field and determines what UOM the location profile will store. The location group will…[TBA].
e.g The ‘Security Cage’ location profile. The slotting category assigned would be ‘High Value’. The WMS now understands that any ‘High Value’ product is to be stored in any location grouped under the ‘Security Cage’ location profile. If the listed locations stored Eaches, the location types would be ‘Prime’ or if the listed locations stored cases, the location type be ‘Case’. The WMS now understands what UOM can be stored in the locations grouped under the ‘Security Cage’ location profile.
